Our Goal

To follow Christ’s command to go and make disciples of all people.  The purpose is two-fold:  1) To go out into the mission field beyond the walls of the church in our communities and surrounding area; 2) Send and support others through giving generously to mission projects in our area, our nation, and our world.

Outreach

Our Outreach Program at Elmwood UMC Church is dedicated to serving and supporting those in need. Our team of volunteers works together with the community to provide aid and assistance to those who require it. We believe that outreach is an essential part of our mission as a church, and we are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of others.

Manna / Meals on Wheels

Three days a week,Manna delivers a hot meal to shut-ins in the surrounding communities for a low price. The last Thursday of each month, Manna serves a buffet lunch with entertainment.  Each Friday, they offer bread pick-up to anyone in need.

Faith in Action Sunday

Once a year, the congregation puts our faith in action by spreading out into the surrounding communities to show God's love in practical ways

Trunk or Treat

Together with the other churches in Elmwood, we host a family friendly trick or treat event on the Sunday close to Halloween at Central Park.  Hot dogs and hot chocolate served to participants.

Stuff a bus / Christmas Baskets

Food Pantries

Vacation Bible School

The children of Elmwood Elementary bring food stuffs to "stuff a bus" for baskets that will be distributed to the area needy at Christmas.

We have a small food pantry to assist persons in immediate need of food stuffs.  We also support the Farmington Area Food Pantry which distributes food to area needy monthly.

Vacation Bible School is  in July.  It is held 4 evenings for ages K-6.  Saturday is a pre-K session.

Music

We have  many talented members that share their gifts during worship services.

Bible Studies

There are different opportunities for bible studies.  We have an interactive study led by the pastor Tuesday evenings at 6:30 pm at the church.   We also have an on line bible study.

Adult's Ministry

Our Goal: To provide experiences for adults to grow in their faith through participation in small groups and in opportunities for service in the wider community.  The goal is for adults to increase their love for God and love for others as they deepen their commitment to Jesus Christ and follow him. Adult ministries include Adult Bible School on Sunday mornings, Manna Meals every month, and Bible studies.

Youth Ministry

Our Goal: To give children (Pre-K through High School) the opportunity to know Jesus Christ and grow in their faith through authentic caring relationships and sound Biblical teaching.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

Camp Big Sky

The United Methodist Church of Elmwood has partnered in many ways with Camp Big Sky, supporting the mission of serving children and adults with disabilities.  Camp Big Sky was created to offer outdoor activities to any person of any age with a disability and their families, friends and caregivers.  Many of the activities include fishing, boating, nature study, overnight camping, archery, hay rack rides, lawn games and much more. For many this is a once in a life time experience and creates a lot of firsts; first time they caught a fish, or took a boat ride, or flew a kite
